Jewish Vocal Music

Welcome to Jewishvocalmusic.com

On this site you'll find my original compositions for accompanied and a cappella choruses, soloists, and duets. The pieces combine a classical and sometimes ethnic orientation with contemporary energy. Their texts are in English, Hebrew, or both and are primarily adapted from verses in the Tanach and prayers in the Jewish liturgy. The pieces lend themselves particularly to performance during religious services and at life cycle events and holidays.

In difficulty, the choral pieces range from works appropriate for developing choirs — for example, "If Not Now, When?" and "And the Children Dance (Oseh Shalom)" — to more challenging works for established ensembles, such as "V'ahavta" and "Kaddish." There are also pieces appropriate for congregations or unison voices, for example, "Hashkiveinu" and "Sh'moneh Neirot (Eight Candles)."

Unabashed Self-Promotion: We're pleased to announce that "Oseh Shalom" has been chosen for presentation at the 2008 International Festival for New Jewish Liturgical Music, sponsored by Shalshelet. See Shalshet.org for information about all the composers featured at the festival.

You are invited to listen to samples to hear if any of the music piques your interest. If you like what you hear, please contact me to obtain sheet music via on-line or snail mail delivery.

In the interest of improving distribution of Jewish vocal music, there is also a page of links to other composers of Jewish music. If you would like to be included in the links, please contact me.

Finally, thank you for considering the music at Jewishvocalmusic.com for your choir, congregation, or other ensemble. I look forward to hearing from you.
